Picked this up today for $2...6-sided bottle embossed "L. Harriman & Co/Anderson City". Crude applied lip, deep aqua (the photo is while it was still dirty), looks pretty early. Where is Anderson City and what might this bottle have held? I'm really intriqued by this one...couldn't find anything about it.

Not sure...bought it here in Texas and it definitely looks like an American-blown bottle.

There's nothing in Matt's book for that name so I don't know, good luck...

RE: L. Harriman Anderson City (Ohio?)

I think I may have found it! L. Harriman is listed in the 1870 census as a physician in Anderson, Ohio. He was 54 at the time.

RE: L. Harriman Anderson City (Ohio?)

Here it is after a good cleaning...full of some sort of grease but a real beauty now! Still looking for any information on it.

That is a GREAT looking bottle and I like that it is Anderson CITY rather than just Anderson. What are the dimensions? Looks like it should be in with my "Littles".[;)]

Jim,

It is 2-15/16" tall and 1-1/2" across the base. I think I am going to keep it for now, but will keep you in mind if I decide to get rid of it...it really cleaned up beautiful (way better than I expected when I bought it).

It looks like a totally different bottle all spiffed up.
