I was picking through junk in a 1950s dump today, and noticed a steel tube, about 3 inches long and an inch wide, that had something poking out of the open end. I pulled on it, and three beads came out, along with some dirt. I saw something else further down in it. I then pulled out a hair pin. I could still see something in the tube. So I broke the top half of the tube and found a marble. At the very bottom of the tube I could see something shiny. I broke the tube down to the shiny thing, and found the pin. Under the pin was a fancy coat button. Under the fancy coat button was some sort of charm with a person on it. I'm not sure why it was thrown out, but they sure are cool. Can anybody identify any of them? Thanks, Ryan.

Here's the back. I want to say that it says sterling, but I could be wrong about that.

Thanks for the pic.. My color is off on my monitor I didn't know it was off that much..anyways it could say sterling maybe it has a karat also beside the sterling?? cause sometimes they plate gold over sterling ..either way it is a good find sterling is around 27-29.00 a troy ounce right now I'm guessing your pin would be worth between 9-12.00 scrap but the pin might be worth more as a collectiable I don't know

There's one on Ebay right now. It says it's from WWII. I would never scrap it, I think it's neat.

Hi Bottles.
The charm looks to me like a Catholic religous medal, I can't tell from the pic which one, but a lot of those were made of sterling silver; if your's is metal instead of a silver colored plastic, you may want to check for a sterling mark. Jodetta
