I've been searching the forums (and the internet!) to find the answer to this question but no luck, so I figured I'd start a thread and cross my fingers!
I have a bottom half of a blob top soda bottle made by D.L. Ormsby when he was still at 255 W. 16th Street. The makers mark however just says D.L.O in block letters, and isn't the full name spelled out. Does anyone know when Ormsby used D.L.O. or for how long? Obvs. the address puts the bottle's date sometime between 1844-1860, but I'd like to be able to pin it down a little more.
Yes he used D.L.O. on three or four different bottles all are 'Improved Pontil' squats... I don't think there's any way to pinpoint it further... But now that I reread your question I guess you knew this already...sorry
that has to be a really late variant, literally the year 1860 because he only used stoneware until 1858 approx before moving to his new address at 423 West 16th st. DLO was commonly used on the stoneware. I have a picture but im too busy to upload it to my site (i never upload them straight to abn)
