Hey,

saw this mallet on ebay and wonder about the 2 photos of the lip. It appears to not be made of glass..the first pic shows what I mean...

I'm no expert on stuff this old, but my opinion is it's authentic. Lots of etching and patina can accrue in 300 years..

Cyberdigger,

I don't doubt the bottle is authentic but the inside of the neck just doesn't look like glass to me. I saw a posting some time ago from a fella who did a repair on a bottle from the same era and the results were fantastic but he used a material that wasn't opaque or clear - kinda like what I see in the neck.

I dunno.. but it's conceivable to me that the inside of the neck is coated with mineralization..

Looks nice & OK to me! Not a repaired in my opinion but I'll suggest that you contact the seller to be sure.[;)]
