YEP!WELL KNOWN BOOK and was considered one of the best on the subject..till a guy on her named MATT did a much better one!
A CLASSIC!My sister bought it for me in the 70's not long after it came out..I still have it,,but the beautiful dust jacket is gone and it was drawn in by my oldest daughter ..now 36..that makes it more special to me now. Back then ..not so much!

As I started collecting back in the mid 1960s I can tell you that you can gain an awful lot of valuable information about how old bottles were made, how they were distributed, what they contained, etc.
But,,, be aware that they also contain some mis-information that has since been corrected.

Thanks, I found Cooper's Magnetic Balm listed and apparently had an ad in the Rochester Union & Advertiser July 2, 1857.

I lived in that book as a teenager. Always loved the line drawings, and his comments on some of the rarer pieces did a lot to influence my collecting. All it lacked was an extensive color section, but that cost a fortune back then. I've always wondered if the author is still living.

I had that book once when I first started collecting. I liked it but then for some reason I sold it. A couple of years ago I found another one and bought it again. I won't sell it twice. It really is very informative. Great find in my opinion.

I still have most of my 1960 - 70s books and although I don't look at them often I reminisce occasionally. I knew or at least met most of the West coast authors. I have about 4 dozen referrence books of all types. They've made me money beyond their cost.
