Coke 16-oz Bottles

There seem to be conflicts over when the 16-oz bottle of Coke was originally introduced.

Some sources point to 1961-62 as being the time when the pint-size bottle was put into production (regular production, that is), while other sources say the same size bottle was introduced in 1955. I also would like to know whether or not the 1955 and 1961 dates may refer to different versions of the same size.

Cans were first introduced in 1955 but I find no reference to 16oz. bottles that year, Colacorner.com says they were approved and produced for nationwide use in 1962.
