Found this pot lid today at a 40s dump. It says 2 gallons on it. At first when I found it I thought that it was broken, but I wonder if maybe the holes were for a spoon? Does anybody know anything about it?

Hi,
That lid is definitely damaged and could not have been made that way for a spoon as the flat surface on the rest of the lid would have been located on the recess of the jar which is solid stone wear

Look at the edges where it is scooped out. I would think if it was made that way those scooped out edges would have the glazed finish on them.
