I found a large (1 gallon or so) aqua bottle embosed WH Hutchinson and Sons/Bottlers Supplies/Chcago, Ills in a junk shop the other day. Since I collect Hutchinson stopper bottles I though this was a nice go-with. I am sure this bottle was made in other sizes/colors and thought maybe someone here knew what othe WH Hutchinson bottles might be out there somewhere. I know from reading that he this company served bottlers with more than stoppers and bottles but never ran across any syrup bottes or whatever came in the large bottles. Thanks for any information

I don't know if this is interesting to you but here's an old ad.

Nice find!

Believe it or not I actually dug up one of those gallon syrup bottles, in a layer loaded with older hutches (10-15 years older than the layer) that I think were all tossed together. I've seen a few over time, all were aqua though some had a tapered lip and others had a flat ring lip, similar to #11 and #7 respectively in the picture list here:

Thanks fellas for the information. It is definitely a miracle something that large survived being thrown away. Great find. I think the one I found got put up somewhere when it was emptied. No wear on the base no staining, etc. I don't think it was even used for another purpose. The top on the one I have is like the typical top used on chemical type bottles, a single flared lip. The bottle does have a nice number of bubbles.

I would like to see a picture. If it isn't too much trouble.

Cool, it seems like you found one with a different lip finish than mine. Mine has a chipped lip but I'm not complaining.

Dylan, here is a pic of the one I dug. The druggist next to it is a 32 ouncer. [:)]

Hello again, I don't mean to hijack your thread or anything but I came across a few pics of the spot I pulled it from:

The Hutchinson came out of the little "cubbyhole".

And if you think that looks like a pretty wet hole....

Think again! [:D]

I've seen a cast-iron syphon filling cage with a base marked Hutchinson & Co., Toronto, Ont.
