I dug bottles back in the 70's with my father, then sort of left the fold and got other interests. This summer I had to clean out my parents house because they are deceased and we are going to sell the house. That sort of rekindled my interest again then yesterday I went to set up a trail camera at my deer stand. While I was there I walked down to a spring that had been cleaned out back in the spring and found this little pottery bottle. There is a house place about 75 yards from the spring that dates back to the early 1800's. Anyway I got bite by the bug again and am going to have to dig around alittle this weekend. I guess it is a little wine or beer bottle.? My father and I dug some big ones back in the 70's.

Here is another picture that will give you an idea of the size.

Now THATS a strange one to me, though I am no expert on the pottery bottles. A majority came over from England though a good share were made in America. Kinds looks English to me and if I had to guess, it would be a miniature size mineral water. Any stamped or debossed markings on the side of it? Sometimes they are very hard to find and nearly always a puzzle to read if there is one. I have seen a couple that size with the little handle but a smaller mouth. Yours doesn't appear to have a handle and the mouth is a bit wide, though not wide enough to resemble some of the smaller wide mouth ink bottles. I suspect from the size alone it is an uncommon find. Time to dust off the shovel and dig in! Nice little find whatever it be. I'm sure some smarter folk than I will chime in on this one...regardless, welcome back to the world of adventure! Good luck! Jack
