Some of the answers with this are very surprising. A full bottle absolutely adds value. Especially since these bottles are found or sold empty most of the time. The oil that was made for railroad signal batteries was a special different blend and is not the same as if you'd put your common everyday motor oil into that bottle. If the oil and cork are original you have value there. Not only to bottle collectors but also railroad memorabilia collectors.

Just what was different about battery oil? The oil, as I understand it, was simply floated on the top of the fluid in a battery to keep the electrolyte from evaporating. Low volatile content - as with motor oil - would be desirable in that case, but I don't think the oil had any other function, did it?
