[attachment=MCMUNNS_OPIUM.jpg]366 Dr. McMunn's Elixir of Opium vials from a dump the length of about a football field. Been pulling them up since 2010...I often get bored picking them up or don't have a bag so I fill my pockets or leave piles behind. All smooth base. As you can see there is lots of river-Ick on them. Im going to try and break the 500 mark which shouldn't be a problem.

Wow, that stuff was like Lays® Potato Chips. Remember that hoard of almost 1500 that got sold at Heckler's?Has anyone pinpointed the end of times? Was it 1906?FROM THIS it was at least 1883.What years were that/those consumers from?

I guess those could be classified in the common range of collectibility! That is amazing.

There are pontils to ABM's in the dump so I can't really pinpoint a date range on them. I had one with a bubble wrapped around the entire back half of the vial...thats a lot of bubble for any bottle!!! Gave it to a friend who got me into bottle diving.[attachment=OPIUM_1.jpg][attachment=OPIUM_2.jpg]

I guess if you got some ABM's than at least 1906 but probably to 1914. They could have gone to 1934 I suppose., that's when the feds started getting serious.

The opiums were all blown in a mold but there are a good amount of ABM bottles in the dump. My first thought was that the authorities outlawed the drug, rounded up the vials from the local pharmacies, emptied the contents and threw them in the river. Then I heard of some caches being found in house walls and realized someone was probably hooked on the drug. There was a cache of over 1000 tubular pontil McMunn bottles found with the paper labels still on them!!!!

I understand bout the stain...years ago when I was able to wade a creek here I would find bottles that were about impossible to clean..the water was polluted by a dye company long ago...man that stuff still was in the silt...amazing even floods do not wash it away!!
