Blue in Base of Black Glass Ale

This is a bubbly New England glasshouse ale bottle. The base shows blue that is not just on the surface but seems to actually be the color of the glass. The picture shows the blue at the middle of the base but there are more "rings" of blue on the outer parts of the base. I was shining a flashlight at it and thought I saw a string of blue on the side of the bottle near the base as well.[attachment=IMG_2566.JPG]

It has to do with temperature but I'm not smart enough to explain it. The same thing applies to whether an Iron Oxide pontil scar is Black or Red. Maybe someone will explain it.

WOW thats it! That would suggest this is a bottle of English origin? This is also a 3-piece mold like the one described in the link.

I thought it was an English type ale from the base but with just a base shot, no dimensions or the 3PM note I didn't want to make the call.The blue I wouldn't have guessed.[:)]
