Hello everyone. I recently came across this LYNCH and CLARKE mineral water hand blown bottle and not sure of its value and also looking for more information on it (exact date, history, etc.). It does have a 1 inch break/hole in the reverse side (as seen in pics) which hopefully doesnt destroy its vlaue. I perosnally love this bottle, but looking for some info about price, etc. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

That hole's gonna bring down the value a lot, unless it's a very rare bottle. I still like it though. Do you have a picture of the base?

Very desirable bottle if it's the 10" tall quart, if perfect and that size it would be $2500-3000. If it's the 7.5" variant it's still a good bottle in the $300-600 range if perfect, but with that hole the value is minimal. I doubt you could get $50 for it sadly...

So hello again Chad, I think we had some contact before regarding the Florida bottle shows.I guess you live in Florida - I do in the winter time. I have collected a lot of SARATOGA bottles and studied their changes to get enough bottles to keep up with the demand for mineral water. It took a lot of bottles. They made a lot of changes and growth to meet the demand. One of the things I picked up on was when they started chilling the mold iron bottle cavities to eliminate the so called "whittle" - a term I have trouble applying to the problem because they didn't whittle in iron molds. The second thing I discovered is how they started using "Makers Marks" on the bottom plates. I think this was done because they kept count of the quantities a shop made in a shift and no doubt paid an incentive to get them to blow faster! It could have been to tell them who made any troubling bottles - we don't know. I also did a big study on Anchient Age Gins, and found they used makers marks - I think to know who made the correct shoulders to meet the control factors on taxable capacity. This problem made the industry start making four part molds so the capacity control was correct. Tax greed - way back then. I would be interested in your Saratoga bottle if you decide to part with it. Offering maybe 30 + 10 for shipping cost. Not that I need it - but that is the way I think. If your near Sarasota - consider a visit. RED Matthews
