I guess this is just a "Gloat Post" :} but sue me - I love it when diggers line up and show what they've hauled in. I'm heading up to the dive spot I've been workin tomorrow. It's lots of work, to dig/dive it, but it's a blast. Through about 15 hours underwater there, this is the best of what I've found ( not including the pottery milk pan). This is two smooth base Dr. Pierces Indian Restorative Bitters, Old Dr. Solomons Indian Wine Bitters, and OP Kidders ink, Large size Rumfords, smooth base Burnett's Cocoaine, blue lip pottery Dempsey bottle, and the most recent, an open pontil, wide flare lip S.O. Richardsons Bitters. The Richardsons has no damage, as in not even a fleabite on the thin flared lip ! But it has overall stain, so I'm trying to decide if I'll tumble it or not. That bottle was laying at the bottom, covered in river muck. When I first saw it, I thought it might be COLORED, but within a second I know just what it was, as that is a commor bottle out this way. Wish I could dive and dig every day :] Dig long and prosper.Thats it for now, enjoy

Hi Bram, Excellent bottles. I like looking at pics of bottles that are being found. It motivates me to do more digging myself. Steve

Hey Bram. If you find a paneled Dr G Pierce's Indian Bitters like those pictured with a pontiled base, Hang onto it it is extremely rare and valuable. I have a pontiled example and was just told how rare it really is, as Ring & Hams info is wrong re this variant. You have a good chance of finding one I would think, after all finding two of them smooth based might mean there is a pontiled one in there somewhere. I believe that if you check out Dr cannons medicine chest form ABCG magazine you will find an article saying that his and mine are the only two known, and I got mine from Jeff Noordsey several years ago, and didn't know at the time how rare it is.............Andy

Thanks Mark, Paul and others -Andy, I'll certainly keep my eyes open for a pontiled Pierce. Now that you mention it, I dont think I've ever seen one pontiled! I found pieces of at least three other smooth based ones down there, so they really liked the stuff. Hopefully I could find a pontil one.
