so yesterday i couldnt sleep so i decided to go for a walk, it was garbage day and i found that nice old looking demijohn on the sidewalk since i homebrew i grab it but back home i decided to see how much i had just saved with my found, but i reallized that it might be way older than i tought! the question is do anybody know about the company and era it come from?dont get me wrong, im still going to keep it for my homebrewing but it would be cool to know its history! so it is about 26 inch tall it have the encription VE.BA.D on the collar , its a greenish blue color and the color seem to be stronger on the top and slowly going lighter on its way down, it have mold mark , tiny air buble all over the body and a couple of big one on the bottom wich have also a mark that i tought whas poor printed encription but its probably more the tool mark that was used (i guess). any help will be apreciated, thanks!

Probably French (definitely European continental), mid 1900's. Decorators like them and yours is nice with all the components...probably worth $50-$100.

Well Tom, I am willing to bend over backwards to help you. I don't know how old you are, or how much schooling you have had, but from your description, and pour pictures, the demijohn looks like it has wicker basket covering. I agree with the one post about the source being French because of the embossed lettering being on the neck. I realize that your interest was for home-brew or something personal, but if you can tell us more your bottle might be worth moe to you that the application your considering. Please email me at <bottlemysteries@yahoo.com> If you are going to become a bottle collector, I have a write-up of the things that make hand blown bottles collected to all of us people in this forum. Welcome. When you said it's embossed on the collar I'm thinking machine made, post WWII, maybe Portugal or Spain. It's not easy for me to see the pictures very well.

sorry for the picture quality i took the late after i found it, as for the origin i found that the lettering actualy are abreviation for the company VETRERIE BARESI DURACCIO (S.P.A.) based in italy, wich is still an active glass maker, but they dont have any website or any kind of archive all i get from the net is the italian version of google map with the adress info. i will post better photo tomorow morning, any tips about the detail i should take on the picture that would help for a better identification?
