Hello Steve. Looks like you have dug some great bottles, especially the Owls. I have one like yours without the owl, aqua in color, mine is 11 inches tall, how tall is yours, and if less than 11 inches would you consider parting with it??.....Andy

Fantastic dig ! What led you to this dump, do you feel it is commercial or residential refuse ? Is there any chance this dump could go as old as 1880, or is the history associated with the source of the refuse post 1900 ? Keep working it !
Hi caldigs,

Thanks. The location was shown to me by a bottle hound about 25 years ago who was shown it by someone about 25 years before that I believe. How that person found it I do not know.We find stuff from the 1880's to about 1915 with occasional stuff from the 1920's and 1930's. We have found a few 1950's era bottles but I think the site wasn't used as heavily as a dump after the 19teens. I will keep digging it for sure. As I said in another post though going to and from the site is an ordeal, digging it is heavy labor and packing out the tools and bottles is not easy. I try to get at least a week of recovery time between digs there or my back and various other body joints go on strike.

Nice finds. Worth the trouble getting to the dump, I'd say. Amazing that Owl Drug bottles are still so popular and that so many bottle collectors specialize in Owl stuff. I've got a couple examples with the "Gwl" embossing but both have some chips. Yours looks to be in quite excellent condition.

Thanks Jason. My "Gwl" owl is actually pretty sick. It has that white, chalky haze inside and out with a rough texture to the glass. I'm going to soak it in clear water for a few weeks to see if it improves.
