Okay, so, I have a small collection of marbles in my room. I know some on the clay ones. But I can only guess as to my other ones. What can you tell me about size, color(s), 'aging', design, material make-up... so I can put a date on mine?

There are marble books published that show and name different makes of marbles and some have price guides in the as well . To me if you want to learn about them , get you a book and study them , best way to learn about them . I have a friend that was into the heavy for a while and then sold out and started collecting other things . He was very up on identifying them . He got his knowledge by buying a marble book and studying them .

Hi Robert, If you still have a public library in your county you can go on their website and see if they have any books about marbles.Find out if there are used book stores in your town. They may have marble books for super cheap. And you can haggle.

Also , if you still have a library , and they do not have any marble books on hand , if you ask them they will borrow books from other libraries to obtain them for you . Or at least our library does that .

New marble! (No, I don't think it's before the '60s so it definitely ain't old, but I don't have any marble information yet so... can't date it. But! the glaze is cracked all about it and the periwinkle is faded, the milky white is slightly off and where it is clear it isn't totally clear. Also, it's pretty worn. I dug it only an inch down whilst bored and shoving a trowel into where broken glass, once a sugar-jar spoon, and metal objects pop up near our house's foundations (Home is 1925) so... got blessed with this little beauty.
