Just pulled this bottle out here in Philly. Resembles a liquor or oil/dressing bottle but is much smaller at only 7". Large seal on it reads "WILLIAM BUTLER / IMPORTER / PHILADELPHIA". Bottle is smooth based and may be turn/paste-molded. Didn't have much luck with the city directories, the only possible William Butler I could find is one in 1865 listed as a "Whiskey Inspector" on Delaware Avenue, but whose home is listed way out in Mifflin County, PA. Anyone have any ideas or insight into this bottle? Thanks!

If you think it might have been turned in the mold, ae there any vertical twist lines under the finish? I assume that is an applied seal pressed on the shoulder. I have to doubt turning could have been accomplished and keep the glass hot enough to take the seal. It would interesting to see more of it, for making analysis. Nice bottle. RED Matthews
