We may not have weather like yesterday for a while, so I got my work done yesterday and knocked off at lunch to hit the creek. After about a mile and only two yawner bottles, I'd just about had it. I had reached the spot where I had planned on turning around, and worked the spot pretty hard. Ears and under my nose were getting sore, so I stuck my head in the water one more time, fanned about a half inch of sand and out popped this. Not having my glasses on, and being wet, it looked pretty slick. I was tickled when I got my eyes on and dried it off. Probably not a big deal, but it just made my day and was the last thing I was expecting. [attachment=barber1.JPG] [attachment=barber.JPG]

Thanks for noticing, Mitch. Apparently, the two bottles weren't the only yawners.

Seems like the "Liberty" hasn't been worn away, so there's a pretty nice coin under all that tarnish! Were you specifically looking for coins and whatnot when you were fanning the creek? Earlier this summer I had been doing a whole bunch of creek and storm sewer fanning and sifting, but the only barber found was a toasty 1914 dime. I'd be tickled to death with a nice quarter like that.

No, I wasn't looking for coins at all, although I had found a couple of beaters over the last 40 years. I was mostly looking for bottles and arrowheads, so the quarter was a pleasant surprise.
