Ok..last one for today.....
I purchased this bottle......the colour is stunning and that is the main reason I bought it + the price was right ....$5.00.
It is a dark amber.
There is still some of the paper label attached although some one [] has taped the remaining label to the bottle...the year 1887 is at the bottom (taped)....plus part of the label 1878 which includes the word republique and at the top the label reads ture(?) nto(?)
The bottle is 11 inches tall.
I am including a pic of it plus will also include a pic of the bottom of it.
There is no embossing on it plus the seam goes up to the top of it.
The cork is still on the bottle.

Ineresting base. The seam going to the top says machine made but the bottom looks lake a turn mold except the seam. At any rate it appears more like a whiskey cylinder bottle, not a wine. Could the "?" be Toronto?

So if the bottle was reused.....should I remove what is remaining of the label (wine)??? as well as the cork and give it a proper cleaning ???

RE: wine bottle

I have many of my amber bottles on my window in my office - I love it when the sun shines in and reflects off them ..........they look amazing

RE: wine bottle

Some will disagree with me on this, but I would remove the rest of the label on that one - it will show nicer. I wouldn't bother with the cork unless it comes out easily. I have bottles in my office window at work, too, and they do look great!

RE: wine bottle

I agree with ya. It will make a cool conversation piece too. it's definatly a whiskey but has part of a wine lable. It will display better without the bits of lable.

RE: wine bottle/whisky bottle ???

Well I showed it to my digging buddy ...he thinks it might actually be a whisky label and not a wine label...hmmmmmmmm [8|]
