This jar has been a favorite of mine for a long time, I just got around to getting it off the top of my cabinet in the kitchen so I could get some photos. It's a Valve Jar Philadelphia - with a big indentation on the side where it got picked up a little too soon and the tongs left a very detailed imprint.

Beautiful jar, but that looks more like a case of a pinched gather. Fine example of an anomaly more often found on sodas and flasks. Can't say that I've ever seen that on a fruit jar.

I tend to agree with the tong theory. Looks like woven asbestos on the imprint which you would expect on the tongs. Beautiful jar for sure!

Nice jar - and those Red Wing crocks in the background aren't too bad either!
