Went back to our usual spot Yesterday, Sunday. Found a nice big privy hole full of bottles but it was a newer 1905-1910 hole full of crown top beers. BUT, Did find 3 different Hutches & one of my Favorites. Pic below of Tom digging & holding some Amber American Brewing co bottles. LEON.

After digging hundreds of 7 oz. & 24 oz. AR Andrews from my infamous AR Andrews hole (post from a few years ago) I always wanted to dig a AR Andrews hutch. Yesterday I finally did. And it was mint right out of the ground. Some dirt but after rinsing dirt out it was mint. LEON.

Nice hutch Leon. Glad you could add that to your collection. It definitely appears to be in fantastic condition

Wow those are some cool bottles. How do you find such good places to dig? I'm fairly new to bottle collecting and have never dug any myself. Are these old dumps you've come across somehow? My job requires me to drive all over the city everyday, so I was just wondering how to pick a good spot in some of these old historical neighborhoods? Thanks, Joe

Pic of me in hole trying to get Camera to work, Camera got full of dirt while digging & malfuntioned. I hate when that happens. Group shot of some bottles & a milk in ground. LEON.

We started finding bottles at 3 feet. When I got to the bottom at another 3 feet & was 6 feet down there was nothing but broken shards down there. We'll usually stand in one side of hole & dig another 3 feet down on other half. Then throw the other half of hole dirt in other half of hole so entire hole is not 6 feet but only part of the hole as we just move the dirt around in there from one side to the other. My probe is 5 feet & would not touch bottom of the hole. One the one side I probably went 7 feet until I hit bottom, I did not take a pic of this. Lots of privies got the same look, feel, material at the bottom, seeds ect, So I can tell when I'm at the bottom of a Privy. Some are still outined with roTted wood that has deteriorated to a rooty lined looking rotted wood that does not show up good in pictures. Yes, some are shallow trash pits that do not look like Privies. This one looked like a 6-7 feet deep privy although pictures do not show that. LEON.

Here in this pic is a hole with in a hole. I'm about 3 maybe 4 feet. But where that hutch is in picture is another 2 feet down from the hole I'm standing in. I put the probe straight down in the soft dirt floor of this hole & after about 2 feet down in floor I heard & felt the probe hit a bottle. SO, I pulled my probe out & dug a small hole straight down 2 feet to see what I hit. Ends up I hit a Westphal hutch. We ended up digging another foot or more below this westphal so was easily 6 feet down, which is not shown in the pics. LEON.
