Heres a example of standing 3 feet down in one side of hole & digging another 3 feet down on other side of hole. that's a cobalt blue hutch in the hole 6 feet down. LEON.

Yes, We found one nice Fort Wayne druggist or med or Pharm. The older 1880-90's version have a River street Address. Then around 1900-1905 they changed that River street name to Jefferson Ave. which anybody in Detroit is probably familiar with this popular street. This being 1905+ hole it had the Jefferson Address. I have 2 different variations of this bottle from River st. but did not have this Jefferson st. variation, & still don't. LEON.

I dont think we ever found any kind of cap (Clay, ect) over a Privy here. More likely in a town dump. I Have found lots of brick or other debris in top of filled hole though. Lots of Yellow sand near & or surrounding the bottom of these Privies usually. This seems like a bad sign but has still produced some good bottles in or farther under this yellow sand. When the sand gets real hard you know you hit bottom. LEON. P.S. Pic of bottom of Privy, about 6-7 feet down.

Wow those are some cool bottles. How do you find such good places to dig? I'm fairly new to bottle collecting and have never dug any myself. Are these old dumps you've come across somehow? My job requires me to drive all over the city everyday, so I was just wondering how to pick a good spot in some of these old historical neighborhoods? Thanks, Joe

Lot of places we dig have the houses gone for past few years & sometimes house has been gone for 50+ years. With the house long gone Sanborn Maps help us find the Privies where the bottles hide. Finding Privies is much easier with the house still standing, but if a whole block has had the houses torn down 50+ years ago & replaced with a big manfacturing building which has now recently been torn down these can be more difficult to locate. LEON.
