[attachment=bromo5.jpg] Must have been a bad day for this mold cutter! Instead of putting an I in BALTIMORE he started to cut an H or cut an H and then must have realized the mistake and tied it into the M. Any one have a bottle with combo letters like this?

I reposted this because I was trying to edit the other post and the forum flipped out on me! This is on the same bottle as above and the second E in SELTZER appears like an I or SELTZIR. I have some backwards Z's and some other bromos with spelling errors but have never seen one this bad![attachment=bromo1.jpg]

Thanks guys, I hope it was the last one of the day, I wonder how long it took to do one mold. Amazingly he got the Z correct!

Moving this here because the other post is messed up, moderators please delete the Bromomania!!! post. Recently acquired some great Bromos and also had Matt Knapp, aka the wizard Guntherhess turn my sick oliveish green irradiated bromo back to its worthless but original cobalt blue color! I've been wanting a four inch real green bromo for about seven years now and finally scored one from fleabay. Yes Virginia there are real green bromos and this one supposedly came out of a privy in Colorado. [attachment=bromo6.jpg]

as for the messed up mold, they made so many of them that somebody was bound to make a mistake some time.

Bromos are famous for mould errors and yes part of the reason is they made so many of them, it would be interesting to know how many and for that matter which bottle had the most moulds made. Emerson started Maryland Glass Works because the other shops, and there were a few who made bromo bottles, could not keep him supplied. Maryland Glass worked almost exclusively with cobalt so the off greens, blues, and aquas most likely came from those earlier shops and the bottles have that earlier look. Part of the allure of these bottles for me is the endless moulds, which is also why Ball(l) Perfect Masons make me smile. The opposite of this, a bottle with one mould is a far different treasure. I think I'll use the letters on bottles like this to make a new font named bromo.
