Milk picked up this weekend at an Antique Mall. Anyone have any idea where Wayne County is? [attachment=002.JPG] [attachment=003.JPG] [attachment=005.JPG]
Just found the following info on the net. Could this milk bottle possibly be this old. "In the 1870's a farm was established by James Allen who sold the property to the Towars Wayne County Creamery in 1896. The Towar Farm raised cattle and operated a dairy until about 1912,"
Wayne County is in Detroit. Or Detroit in Wayne county. I just found 2 different ones of these in a recent privy dig only a few weeks ago. Found them here before that also. LEON.
Thanks Leon and nhpharm for the info. The article stated that the dairy was located at a place that later became Barton Hills Village. The land was too hilly to farm so it was used as a dairy. Are you familiar with this area Leon? Buster
Here's a pic of one of mine in a Pint, Think I got a Quart somewhere also. No, Never heard of Barton Hills Village, Not to many hills in Wayne County. LEON.
Interesting link on Barton Hills. Never been there but seeing it on the Map I've drove by it many times. Kinda decieving it's called Wayne county Creamery when it is actually in Washtenaw county which is the county next to Wayne County or to the West of it. LEON.
Hemi, any Jack's Dairy bottles? Our local Museum has no idea where Jack's Dairy was. Looking for leads-- they had Detroit milks where I got my bottle, so....?
