Found this old bottle out in the country West of Calgary, Alberta. Seam only goes up to the bottom rib on the neck so I assume it is pre 1900. Curved v within a circle stamped on the bottom. Cork was pushed into the bottle. Thanks for any help in identifying.

If you're referring to the V in a circle mark listed on Glassbottlemarks.com, it may in fact be a similar mark made by an older company, but not the same. Definitely a whiskey or liquor bottle, circa 1890's-pre 1920 I'd perceive, if in fact the seem stops under lip. Really digging the color! If I could see a close up of the lip I could tell for certain if it's machine made or not, because the glass just looks a little odd to me as far as hand-blown stuff goes.

Looks European to me. Very interesting find. Find made in Cochrane area? I have a pontilled black glass porter from around 1820-1840 found in rural Alberta. My guess is the really early stuff found its way into Alberta via the fur trade. Later 1800s stuff also through the fur trade, but add to that ranching, surveying, and early white settlement.
