I have recently acquired this bottle through my other hobby interest (antique hit and miss engines) I was talking to another engine collector about engines and other hobbies and found out that when he was a kid he dug bottles in CT. he actually threw away all his old bottles except 1, This Mist of the morning Barnett & Lumley Sole Agents bitters. we talked for a wile and it turned out that I had a part that he needed and a trade was made. This bottle was in "dug" condition so I took it to Jen Heatley (Jenrog collectibles) and had it cleaned. I have done a little research and I think this variant with the sole agents on it may be a kind of scares mold. So just wondering what anyone may know about it and if there are a lot of them around or not and what it may be worth because I am planning on selling it. Thanks Mike

Is this bottle Barrel shaped and does it actually have the word BITTERS embossed in the glass? I believe what you have is a WHISKEY / LIQUOR bottle. Not a problem value wise as if it's the one I'm thinking about it's worth quite a bit. You may send me your pix and perhaps I can post them. To avoid spam I will mess up my email address, just put it together in all lower case.j sins ley 38 at ya hoo dot com

After viewing this bottle I am in love. I was a BITTERS specialist for many years and am thouroughly convinced that this bottle is NOT a Bitters but it sure resembles one and I can see why some might think it is. Bitters hardliners want to see the name BITTERS embossed in the glass or have an authentic label describing it as such. There are a few true Bitters bottles with a very similar shape of the MIST OF THE MORNING you have. Depending on condition that bottle will bring several hundred dollars. I do not know if the SOLE AGENT is a real plus or not, it could very well be. I know I would love to have it and will offer $250 here and now (much less than it's worth) if undamaged. Good luck, keep us posted please. A good auction is probably the best place to sell it, I would try eBay with a healthy reserve myself. Jim

That's a gorgeous bottle ! I know that many barrel bottle are Bitters but there are just as many or more whiskey or liquor in that forum. I would say its a liquor and that Mist of the Morning is a play on Mountain Dew. That's one of those bottle I would tend to hold on to until I got some really really good info on or until somebody offered more for it than I knew it could ever be worth. It looks like a keeper to me and a very nice get . Just saying. Bill

Yup, the half dozen or so ads I've seen all say bitters. It may have been one of those aperient before/after dinner cordial tonics rather than a cure all type thing.

I believe that your bottle is a whisky not a bitters as it is not listed in Ring/Ham if it was a bitters it would be listed. as for the ads I believe they refer to a different bottle altogether. Still your bottle is worth quite a lot of money, over seven hundred if mint, no chips cracks or bad stain, I personally know of a Mist o the Morning that went over 900.00 dollars but it wasn't straight amber as your is. Nice find in any case......................Put it on e-bay it will do well.............Andy
