What did this bottle hold? 10-1/4" tall, 3" diameter, 1" kickup, blown with an applied lip. Very mottled, thin glass, light aqua. Area for label looks almost hand-done, as the 4th corner seems poorly formed. Two pictures attached...Any ideas, anyone?

My guess is that because of the size it could be Catsup, Liquor, Wine or a late 20th or early 21st century decorative piece. In hand inspection would be required for me to be certain. On the other hand, I have been known to be WAY off the mark.

Reminds me of a fruit juice bottle. But pepper sauce, condiment of some kind are all a good guess I would say. Bill

Definitely looks like a sauce bottle of sorts. Love the crudity!
I agree, probably a fish sauce like Worcestershire. There was a big condiment firm during Victoria's reign that shipped all over the former empire but I can't remember the name. I've seen quite a few but not too often with a label space.

OK, so... it's in perfect condition for something so thin (only weighs a few ounces!), assuming it's mid/late 19th century given the rough technique, etc. etc...... how much do I ask for it? Appraisals are all over the map, from $50 to $350, but they come from people of varying familiarity with bottles.(Note to fer_de_lance; yep, mixing them up would ruin your whole morning...) :)

Well I like it. I don't know what you mean by explaining {mottled glass}.I like the ribbed shoulder decoration because I have a Catsup bottle with that type of shoulders. The finish looks like a blob top - so I have to ask: Was it emopontiled? If it was - I could be interested in buying it. I only collect hand blown glass.
