This weekend I bought a 12oz Royal Crown Cola bottle and the markings suggest that is from 1935. One thing stumps me, though. The label says 'copyright 1936 by Nehi corp'. Please help me out on this one. Hopefully I make sodapopbob's list of earliest acls. I have attached photos through this link: http://imgur.com/a/Bj8Eh

Thanks!

The marking on the lip may be important. If necessary, I will try to see what it says. Thanks

tsalz14 Here are the pictures of your bottle. The G-in-a-square is, of course, the makers mark for the Glenshaw Glass Company, which can be misleading to say the least. Based on what I know about Royal Crown Cola bottles and Glenshaw Glass, my guess is that your bottle is from the 1940s. As you mentioned, it should have a lip-letter that will correspond with the date it was made. The 1770 is a bottle style code. The 35 is probably a mold number but definitely not a date code. The earliest Royal Crown Cola ACL bottle I'm aware of is a 1937. The first ACLs had the debossed/embossed triangle/pyramid on the shoulder. The ACL on the shoulder like on your bottle came later. If it has one, please let us know what the lip letter is. Thanks for sharing Bob

Regarding the earliest ACL soda bottles, here's what I consider the top-three contenders ... 1. 1934 Jumbo Cola2. 1935 green 7up3. 1935 amber 7up

So I checked the code, and this turns out to be a 1944. Thanks for your help.

I've seen this chart many times, and now I think I'll keep it in mind more while picking haha. Still a good find though because I didn't pay much for it.

If you could, post some pics of your bottle. Look on the lip of the bottle for a letter.

I did not know that that was not the date and you had to go by a lip code. So weird. Mine has a 805, then under that a C in a circle, and then under that a 15. Same bottle but from Ellisville, Mississippi. What is that book you have? I have two of the embossed pyramid bottles. I'll start another post as I don't see a date code on them either.
