Hello all:

Gotta get cleaned up but what should I do now. I found this gun in the river. Is it worth keeping?? Should I use C L R or Muratic Acid?? The video will be a bit later it has to download to a server. Its in a bucket of water now. Madpaddla

Cool find, Ben. It would be interesting to know when/why that old pistol was tossed into the river. Could have been from an 1800s bank robbery or worse [&:]

I would try CLR, but if it is heavily encrusted you may have to use electrolysis. I have never done it myself, but have heard it works well on metal objects. Hopefully it will come out looking decent for you. I don't think she'll fire again [:D], but it would make a cool display piece. I've never found any old guns, but have heard of them turning up in old privies and waterways. ~Jim

That's pretty cool. I dig alot of really rusty metal objects and always wonder "what could this have been?" One privy we were digging had a huge piece of rusty metal about half way down in the middle. When we finally got it out, it ended up being an old sewing machine about as rusty as that gun is! The really sad part was the union clasped hands flask that was under it! All the shards were there and you could tell it was whole untill the sewing machine got tossed on top of it. Chris Capley

Here is the Swamp Root I got today. A remedy but a nice aqua color. And the video:

No animals were hurt in the taping of this view.
The trees mentioned under cut but enough in tack to live through.(Well except one)[:D]
This is the first layer with bricks about 3 or 4 ft down. Then there is another set of brick about another 1 ft down. Then the good stuff. B/c of this forum I have learned to dig this horiontal and dig just below the final layer then just pull all the bottles out. Thanks guys. This video idea is neat. I will update the photo's of Clough state park that Sara took. Immence fllooding and litter/bottles everywhere. I hope everyone enjoys the video....the jokes arent funny....the video not great but just enjoyed taking it for everyone here. Madpaddla

Yeah, that's always my luck! To make matters even worse, that was the only good bottle in that hole. There was a slew of commons in there that were all perfect! Why couldn't it have been the other way around? LOL Chris Capley
