Back in the (Bottle digging) game

Been out of commission for a couple of years with a bad back. I had surgery to repair a herniated disc in August 2014 and I'm just now getting back to digging. I've been out maybe 5 or 6 times so far this fall with nothing to show. Things changed on Saturday though as you can see - I dug a local soda - Crown Bottling works Port Hope from the 1920's and a nice deep cobalt coffin poison. Also some jar lids, a perfume bottle and a little square cobalt ink.You can see I'm dealing with a high water table, it's hard going but man is it nice to be back out there. My digging buddy Dave (Canadianboy) is on a cruise right now - hopefully we'll get out a few more times before the snow flies.

Nice finds i only get one or two cobalt's a year if i am lucky. Its no fun having back problems so be careful.

My back's still good, but 3 shoulder surgeries slowed me up too. Great finds, love those cobalt blues!

Thanks for the replies. It's nice to finally bring something home after 5 digging sessions and probably 12 hours total. I'm trying to ease back into it.I first injured my back in 2001 too and suffered through it for 12 years until the herniated disc got so bad it started pressing on my spinal cord causing my left leg to go completely numb for almost a year until I had surgery. I've been 13 months since surgery and the leg is still not 100%, so go easy on your back everyone. For me it was caused by heavy lifting and twisting at the same time.

Wow, that's the same problem I am having except not as severe. My left thigh will go numb on the front of my leg for a few minutes at a time. Nothing I can't tolerate for now

Diggin bottles is tough work, especially if you are old or stove up, which is why I now use the golden pick to add bottles to my collection...........Good luck on your future digs, just go easy and try to save your back.............Andy

Some good bottles for ya. Glad your ok now. I dig for a livin, so I also know all about back pain. Also 5 surgeries on my shoulders. Everyone be careful out there!
