Hey all,

I found this bottle metal detecting about 6" in the ground. The only information I can find on this specific bottle is from one site which states:

I cannot find any other picture or website that has this specific bottle.

I am new to antique bottles (this is my first bottle actually) and know nothing about them. I know you must get these requests a lot, but I was wondering if anyone knew more information in terms of:

1. How common it is
2. Approx worth (I'm guessing $20-$30?)
3. Other?

This is what it looked like coming out of the ground:

This is what it looks like cleaned up:

Thanks for your insight.

So I searched hutchbook.com and they only list a "clear" version and mine is purple (ish). There is a "R" in the description. Does that mean it's rare?

The Clear hutch bottles will turn a light purple or pinkish if exposed to sunlight a.k.a. SCA (Sun Colored Amethyst). SO, It's the same bottle, just exposed to the elements or sun. YES, R does mean rare. Value? I seen rare hutches sell anywhere from $25-$250 or more? LEON.

P.S. Nice find, nice bottle.

I grew up in Newport News and have one identical to yours. I bought it in a local antique store for $10 as a kid. If you're of a mind to sell it, I'd be willing to pay you$50. Mine has a crack down the seam, and I want a better looking one. I can be reached at billtheegooch@aol.com.
