I am trying to obtain more information about this Mason jar. Based on the seam--and if the lid is the original lid, I think it may be an early machine-made jar. The area around the lid is very rough. I am interested in learning whatever I can about the jar, including its approximate value.

Thank you for your help.

That is a blown jar (ground lip)...not machine made. Likely from about 1890-1910 or so. The lid is a bit later...likely from the 1920's. This is a very common version of these jars...value about $5.

The pictures aren't good enough for me to make a call but I think early machine because I think I see some kind of ring around the 36, finishing off a top of those predecessors wasn't unheard of either. It also doesn't mean the machine wasn't in use well into the '20's and 30's.
As far as worth, probably not much unless it's a REALLY rare mold variant.

Looking at the full resolution picture on my computer, I don't think there is a full ring around the 36, so it may just be coincidental that the wear has a partial ring shape. I originally thought it was blown until I did more research on seams. That was why I thought it might be early machine. Can it be blown and still have a seam that goes to the top or nearly to the top? Thanks very much for your help.

On blown screw top fruit jars, the seams will go all the way to the top because the mold had to extend there to make the threads. Therefore, there would have been additional glass above the screw threads that was then ground off...hence the ground (rough) top lip edge.
