Found a dual-embossed canning jar closure. "A. Stone & Co. Philada" on the rim and "E.T. Whitehead" at center. Unfortunately no sign of the jar.

Nice find! Might check with Greg Spurgeon and see what he has to say.

Does it have screw threads or lugs? It should have screw threads but either way it is a desirable lid. This style comes only in quarts as far as I know. It fits an A.STONE fruit jar, should be Red Book # 2749, or -1, or -2 and worth maybe $150 +/-. The 2749-2 jar has the E. T. WHITEHEAD embossed on the jar face / side. The A.STONE jars were among my favorites when I had my main jar collection.

Thanks for the info! It is threaded. Wish I'd found the jar.
