I found this glass jug at a flea market last year. Bought it because it was odd in that I didnt know that water was ever needed for a radio battery!
Does anyone know about the jug. It measures 9 inches high x 3-1/2 inches diameter. See attached pictures.

Thanks,
Walter

Embossed on front: / ONE QUART / Crystal Rock / TRADE MARK REG. / DISTILLED WATER / FOR / AUTO AND RADIO / BATTERIES / READING PENNA. / 32 FLUID OUNCES /.

What do you think its worth?

Jim....I did a little more research for a "radio battery". And there is one at this site! http://www.demajo.net/museum/page4.htm I think they may have been used on ships and rural areas where there was no electricity. There is a picture of the battery and below the picture it said:
“Along with battery radios, came batteries. Above are some examples of the "wet" and "dry" cell batteries used in early radio sets. The glass battery is a lead-acid storage battery with a built-in trickle charger.”

The water (with an acid admixture) was used as an electrolyte in a battery jar with cathode and anode suspended inside. The battery jar was (is) rectangular, thick glass, with an open top. Edison Battery Oil (or substitute oil) was floated on the fluid surface to inhibit evaporation.
