    Indented lip on 30's-40's O-I?

Hello! So this one has me puzzled... what would this have been used for? Half of the lip is indented on one side & flush on the other, hand stippled, 5" tall, & so far Owens-Illinois, Alton IN, 1935 or 1945 to my best guess.

Very different but cool. Not sure what it would be for though. 1935 might be right.

My guess is that it's just part of the threading process but also unusual. Perhaps an anomaly.

Definitely not an anomaly, I've never seen anything like it though. It's not a pour spout is it? I'm wondering if it's part of some laboratory equipment or something.
