Any info on this short square amber bottle?

Found this one years ago but never knew anything about it. My guess is it's around 1900 plus or minus, ground lip and about 4 inches tall. Looks like BB on the bottom with something between the Bs? What would this bottle originally contain? And I can't picture the closure type, anyone know? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Bauer & Black Gauze Jar (from Chicago) Took a glass lid and metal clamp.
