A friend wanted me to identify what it this was and what was in it. I think it's an old perfume vial but don't know for sure. It has a sheared lip. Anyone have any information?

It is Chinese, but I'm pretty certain it isn't actually an opium vial, despite that being a common name for these bottles. Opium is a thick, tarry substance which you would never be able to get out of a bottle like that. It came in cans as far as I know. These are probably medicine bottles. They're quite common on the west coast.
