My husband was cleaning his grandparents basement and found this Stoneware bottle that has G B Seely engraved on it. I thought that they just made glassware. Just want to get an idea of how old it is. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Very nice! That's a pretty old one. I'm no expert in these things but I'd date it to the mid-19th century. Looks like he was from NYC. Nice American primitive stoneware!
I should say that we're from Upstate NY. Cool thats its pretty old, His grandparents are in their late 90s.
Very nice find. I was thinking mid-1800s too. Tod's site places it a tad later. Still an oldie and a goodie.
Y'all need to go over that basement, and any crawlspace with a fine tooth comb if the house is old. Don't forget to hit the attic, too!

I'm thinking it's probably British and from the 30s or so. Not made to look old per se, just from the tail end of when they were using that design in the UK years after it was phased out in the US.
Thank you for the ID!
Buster, after all my talk, I wasn't able to make it and sorry that I missed meeting you. You know what they say about the best laid plans...
Not sure about the markings. At first glance, it looks like an oldie, but actually is machine-made and probably pretty modern, made to look old.
