We unearthed this bottle in what we think was an old farm site. It's in great condition with the exception of a large chip at the opening, but the stopper is intact as well as the contents. I was hoping it was from 1845 but in seeing other posts I am learning that the number is not a date, but a mold number. Oh well....how do we date this? Is it worth trying to figure out what the contents are? I should have gotten a photo of the bottle from the side, but I was so sure I had an 1845 bottle that I didn't get further than that. :) 20190421_162931(0).jpg20190421_162926.jpg

The symbol on the bottom of the bottle (diamond-oval-I) represents the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. The #7 is the code for plant #7 in Alton, Illinois, that made the bottle and the #6 is for the year 1936.

Single digits on the right, with an Owens-Illinois bottle generally means it's from 1930's or 1940's. But when from the 40's there will be a period after it. So that is how Bottle-bud determined it's from the 1930's.
