That is SO COOL that you found that. And it gives you a pretty good date, 1878. So the bottle is pretty much mid 1870s.

Is that a rare closure, and if so does that do much to the value of the bottle?

It is a very rare closure...I had seen it documented on only one bottle (not this one) previously. Not sure what it does to the value of the bottle but there are closure collectors so it definitely widens the appeal from local beer collectors.
