I've seen similar Dundee Marmalade crocks on ebay and on the net but none just like this....
It was dug from a privy inCharleston, SC
Any Crock specialists out there?
Thank you,
Marjorie

Bevyn,
Is it Dundee Marmalade?
What is the worth of your crock?
Did you dig it or purchase it?
Thanks for the picture!

Nice jars arent they. We have this particular one and another with no printed dates.Never did find out what they may be worth. The one you show, we dug out of an old farm dump in nearly perfect condition. The other with no date was purchased for three dollars to place next to the nicer one.

The Jars without any transfers orinally were for home made jam made by ordinary people, in Scotland we dig many of these we throw away,,when my father was a youngster in 1912 he would take 3 of thes jars to get into movies there was a penny deposit on them.anyone wish to know about any unusual british bottles etc just send me question I was first to dig bottles in Scotland in 1976.my greatest find was Gilbert raes Ginger Beers with green tops, and then had many rare finds.

Hi BigJock,
Welcome to the forum!
I'd love to see some of your bottles....can you send pictures?
Thank you for your reply.....my grandmother was born in Dundee by the way in the 1880's and I recently sent a book of her poems that I published to the Library there. Look it up the next time you're there.......My Life In Poems by May Scott Davis.
