“Not perfect”

I found this bottle above ground. I have no idea what they were used for, medicines I’m thinking.
I think the sun turned it purple not sure about that , it’s “not perfect “ but what a beauty. Has a small chip off the lip .Anyone know what it’s called or what year it might be.

Yeah it's most likely a medicine bottle although impossible to say with certainty what it contained, and dates to 1890-1910-ish. The purple hue is indeed because it was exposed to the sun.

1880-1920 is really the furthest extent of the date range so likely somewhere between these two dates (1900) is your answer. Back then glass makers removed the green hue from glass by mixing in Manganese dioxide which made the glass clear. The side effect of this additive however was that Manganese dioxide slowly turned the glass purple on exposure UV rays. They slowly stopped using this chemical through the 1910's until 1920 when it was nearly entirely replaced by much cheaper and more efficient methods of making clear glass. This new clear glass didn't turn purple on exposure to UV rays.
