SS Cokes could be ordered anytime. There is one from Winona which is a Owens-Illinois dated 1936. One from Greenville, S.C. which I believe is a LGW and dated 1942. Plus a common one of sorts from Tampa, which is undated but from the 1950s. (I have all these, but there may be others!)

I thought I'd mention the main reason this topic surfaced is because I am re-reading the book "The Man Behind The Bottle" that was published in 2010 and written by Norman L. Dean who was the son of Earl R. dean who was the man that designed the original contour bottle in 1915. Most of you will likely recall that one of only two original prototypes of the bottle sold at auction in December of 2011 for a whopping $240,000.00! Anyhoo, reading the book again got me to thinking about items related to 1915/1917 hobbleskirts which resulted in my posting this thread.

Speaking of the book, below is a picture of the cover. It's the hardbound edition I was able to secure form the grandson, Jeff Dean, who was co-owner of the prototype bottle when it sold.

I'm not sure when the cover picture was taken but it appears to be fairly early. Earl Dean started working for Root Glass in 1908 at the age of 14 and retired from Owens-Illinois in 1942.

By the way, when I shared a picture of my 1917 Root bottle with Jeff Dean he said his grandfather was definitely working at Root in 1917 and possibly could have been the person operating the machinery the day it was made.

Anyhoo, this might be a good item for someone to consider buying because it's something you just don't find everyday. Here's the link and basic seller description ...

I picked up a 1916 Ad featuring a straight sided (in black and white) but when removing it from the holder they had it in so I could frame it, the glue got stuck on it and toar a piece out of it. Atleast I got it for only $8!
