I run across this video on YouTube by accident. Not sure if this has been posted before.

Lots of interesting info about how bottles are made, with some footage about Applied Color Label bottles (ACL), there are some soda bottles seen on the production line), and other aspects of machine-made bottle making. Of course this might not be of as much interest to collectors of handmade bottles, but it explains a lot of basic info on machine-made bottle manufacturing!

The footage showing the mold making department, and a worker actually using a hammer and chisel, cutting the design into the mold of a Sparkletts carboy, is at about 13:38 in the film. The film lasts about 25 minutes total.

Very informative video. So many good scenes. I was interested mostly in the manufacturing of the bottles, acl application and of course mold making. I am going to watch it again. Thanks David.

Very interesting, historical, and informative video. My favorite part was the Owens-Illinois railcars. I never knew they had any with their company name on them.
