With permission I was exploring a junk yard that sat abandoned for a few decades. In the woods I found this.

I pulled it out and one of the gentlemen were kind enough to help me pack it back uphill to the trail and gave me it for a low price on account of the damage. I'll likely put a liner in it and make it a fountain after I repair it. Idea on age? No maker mark.

As we were running out of day light I didn't poke around any one spot too long. It had a lot of stuff in it still. Brown interior glaze.
Can't wait to go back. Not much for old bottles or stoneware, being a junkyard, but it was full of excitement for me due to all the antique equipment, cars, and bicycles in there.
The gentlemen were wonderful to talk with too. Very fun people. We didn't get home till 2:30 am due to the 3-hour drive.

Great crock! Looks 1880's. Maybe a hair earlier.

Wow that's a great pictorial crock! Shame there's no name on it but the picture is great. Pretty sure I've never seen one with a butterfly landing on a flower before. Very detailed too.

nhpharm, thank you. I had thought 1890s, but I dunno much about American stoneware.

Canadian Bottles, thank you. I wasn't sure if it was a butterfly on a flower, a bow on a flower, or a flower with leaves. I see it more clearly now.

Leon, It was rather imposing. The only space I have to put it is the porch. Thus, I had an idea to make it a fountain. LOL. There were some Carling flat tops in the dump. I'll poke around there more next time I visit. I did find one bottle dated 1949 so there may be some vintage cans around they'll lemme take.
