I figured it was the same thing just worded differently. Why return if there's no deposit..

company might not have had the equipment to clean and reuse the bottles, so they wouldn't have need the bottle back. just a guess.

Looks like a 1948 Bottle. Most I see that year are ACL. Leon.

I have a few of these (6) oz.Pepsi Cola bottles. There are two types. This one is an early,(1948) DNR/No Deposit bottle.Who knows how many survived.Manufactured ,with the intent to throw away.

I don't think a ND is the same as a NDNR? I think the NDNR started out in the 1940's. long story but mostly to compete with the compettion of the Beer Can. LEON.
I have many of these bottles.Embossed on one side/front of bottle,NOT TO BE REFILLED, (6) FULL FL.-OZ,in circle on neck.On back of bottle,NO DEPOSIT*NO RETURN, (6) FULL FL. OZ, in circle on neck.PEPSI=COLA embossed in slug on back & front of bottle.Crown top.
