I have a blown purple glass flask with " A Little More Grape" Capt Bragg written on the front and Liberty&Union 1865 on the back. The flask has no seams, just the mark on the bottom where it was cut after being blown. I am attaching pictures of this historical flask. From everything that I am reading it seems to be authentic and not a reproduction. Would someone be able to tell me what exactly I have? I am interested in selling it as well just don't know the proper forum for it. Thanks!

Hello Christine,

Welcome to the A-BN, and thanks for showing us your reproduction flask.

I believe your model is a Wheaton.

The original looks more like this:

I am compelled to believe it's a 20th century 'fantasy bottle' since it's not an actual reproduction of a particular historical flask, although the "little more grape" side appears on one from the 1840's with a completely different reverse. The base also doesn't strike me as having a convincingly genuine pontil scar..

It looks modern, but I have a hard time thinking that it is made by Wheaton. Every wheaton bottle I've seen is ABM, while this bottle shows obvious signs that it is handblown. My best guess would be that it was made by Clevlenger (hope I spelled the right), though the base is unusual.
