I am new to bottle collecting and was wondering if this is a pontil. From my understanding is with a pontil there can' t be any lettering on the bottom, but I am wondering why there is a round mark on the bottom. If its not a pontil mark then what is it? Thanks

That' s not a pontil, it' s probably a mold mark of some sort.
The best way to get a look at a pontil is to search eBay, search titles and discriptions and you will get some photo' s of them.
Some bottles DO have a pontil and imbossing on the base but you do not see it often, mostly it is a british rego diamond with the pontil in the middle of it.
