Do any of you collect Roman bottles by any chance? Just wondering how common that is. I collect mainly 19th and 18th century bottles but every now and again I buy Roman glass just because I find it to be fascinating but I am wary because I know there are many good looking fakes out there.

I have had a few Roman bottles over the years. The small ungent bottles are fairly common and not too expensive. Other roman glass forms are more rare and can be expensive. There are lots of fakes but a correct patina is hard to fake. Most of what you see is late, 3rd or 4th century stuff from eastern europe. I would be concerned that any decent items were obtained illegally.
